US artificial intelligence regulation upgrade, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Microsoft will face antitrust investigations
Recently, federal regulatory agencies in the United States have reached an agreement to conduct antitrust investigations into the dominant positions of Microsoft, OpenAI, and Nvidia in the field of artificial intelligence. This is the latest sign of the US government strengthening regulation of artificial intelligence technology.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, the US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have reached an agreement in the past week that regulatory discussions on artificial intelligence companies are in their final stages and are expected to be completed in the coming days. According to the agreement, the Department of Justice will lead the investigation into whether Nvidia's actions violate antitrust laws, while the Federal Trade Commission will focus on examining OpenAI, the pioneer of generative artificial intelligence, and Microsoft, which has invested $13 billion in OpenAI.
